The ferry Petar Hektorović was built in 1989 in Denmark, for the needs of a Danish client. It sailed there under the name Langeland III. In 1998, it was bought by Jadrolinija and renamed Petar Hektorović. It was primarily purchased with the aim of maintaining the local line Split - Stari Grad, which is why it was named after the famous Hvar poet Petar Hektorović. Today, it mainly maintains the Split - Vis line.
